Bank robbery rumour shakes Osun

Fear yesterday gripped residents of Ilesha in Osun State following the rumour that armed gunmen had stormed the town to rob banks. Reacting to the development, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said his men were combat ready to foil any perceived bank robbery and wage war against criminals.

Adeoye said his men had been placed on 24 hours surveillance and were ready to prevent robbery in any part of the state. Speaking through the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Folasade Odoro, the commissioner assured the residents of their safety and that of their property.

Adeoye advised them to go about their lawful businesses without fear. He said: “Police are using this medium to inform the general public that the wide spread bank robbery rumour being peddled in Osun today is a fallacy and should be disregarded.

“The Osun State Police Command will continue to work assiduously to guarantee the security of lives and property of the good people of Osun State.

“We, however, charge you to give useful information to the police through prompt report of any suspicious movement in your domains.”
