Chelsea is making efforts to bolster their squad so as to avoid complacency on the part of their star players during this season. They want to avoid a repeat of what occurred in 2015/16 season which caused them to finish at the 10th position on the premier league table.
Roman Abramovich is reported to be eager to lavish a total of £120m to purchase Virgil van Dijk of Southampton in central defense position and Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Drinkwater in the midfield. The Blues also have eyes on Juventus left-back Sandro.
Chelsea who started the season on a bad note without injured star-man Eden Hazard by losing to Burnley 3-2 lost out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and then sold Nemanja Matic to the same club. They have also either sold or loaned eight players since last season. This has made the purchase of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Alvaro Morata, Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger to be replacements as against additions to the squad.
