Buhari meets with 36 State Governors of Nigeria with exception of Fayose

The President, Muhammadu Buhari had an impromptu meeting with the all the State governors of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa yesterday afternoon, August 25.

The governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi shared an insight on matters discussed at the meeting when he applauded the President for releasing the Paris Club refunds to them all.

The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi on Friday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering the release of Paris Club refund to all governors.

Umahi, while giving the commendation also applauded Buhari for treating all governors equally “irrespective of party affiliation.”

He made the remark when governors met with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.

In a series of tweets, the President’s official twitter handle quoted Umahi as saying, “As state governors we have so much to thank you for.”

“You have treated all Governors equally, irrespective of party affiliation.

Umahi also thanked Buhari for “Budget Support; Paris Club Refunds; Agric Support;” saying “Without this assistance it’d have been difficult for us to cope.”

“In your absence VP @ProfOsinbajo demonstrated a very high level of loyalty to #Nigeria and to Mr President.”

Meanwhile, Governor Fayose of Ekiti state was absent from the meeting due to his installation as the Apesin of Ado Ekiti on August 25.

According to his twitter handle, @GovAyoFayose had this to say: “For those insinuating that I shunned the president’s meeting with governors, I didn’t. I had my installation as Apesin of Ado Ekiti slated for today.”

“Guests were already in Ekiti since yesterday for the chieftaincy title installation before I received notice of the meeting with the President.”

“There was no how I could have abandoned the people here in Ado Ekiti for the impromptu meeting with the President,’’ Mr. Fayose said in the tweets.
