Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has said that it would not agree to go on any verification exercise anymore, calling on the Federal Government to ensure that the ongoing verification exercise by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) was the last, and not an “endless verification exercise.”
The Deputy General Secretary of the Union, Chief Adeniyi Okunade, representing the President, Dr Abel Afolayan, commended the effort of President Muhammadu Buhari towards addressing the plight of pensioners, and condemned the individuals who had been blocking the Union’s attempts to tell President Buhari about the plight of pensioners in the country.
“We have not been able to see him (Buhari). But we have used the media to draw his attention and to let the world know our plight. Thank God, he has set up a Committee now to solve the problems of pensioners,” Okunade said.
