The Southeast Geopolitical zone of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed the zoning arrangement of the Party; that the President be from the North and the National Chairman from the South come 2019.
This decision was arrived at on Monday, October 2, at the PDP Zonal Executive Committee of the Party, in Enugu.
Among those present at the meeting were former Vice President and founding member of the PDP, Chief Alex Ekwueme; Governor of Enugu State, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uguwanyi;
Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu; Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Umahi (who was represented by his Deputy); the Deputy Senate President,
Senator Ike Ekweremadu; Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and other present and former members of the National Assembly from the zone.
The Party also charged the PDP Southeast Governors with the task of liaising with other geopolitical zones to reach an understanding as regards the next National Chairman of the Party.
