Senate, Reps hold joint executive session

Senators and members of the House of Representatives are right now holding a joint executive session at the National Assembly.

The President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, are presiding over the session.

The agenda is unknown, but insiders say it may not be unconnected with the withdrawal of some Department of State Service security operatives attached to Saraki and Dogara.

The face-off between the Police and Saraki, who is the Chairman of the National Assembly, is also said to be a likely item on the agenda.

The meeting started at 12.43pm.

The Senate resumed plenary at 11am and immediately went into a closed session, which lasted till 12:30 pm.
Senators, led by President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, moved into the House of Representatives’ chamber at 12:36pm.

It was gathered that the lawmakers who had, in their respective chambers, lamented their alleged victimisation by security and anti-corruption agents, would reach a common resolution at the joint session.
